Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Barry studied mechanical engineering as an undergraduate student at the University of Notre Dame and graduate student at the Ohio State University. He moved to Atlanta in May 2013 to pursue his passion of working on cutting edge robotic technology with SoftWear Automation, then a fledgling startup out of the Advanced Technology Development Center at Georgia Tech. As Co-CTO of SoftWear, Barry helped bring robotic products to market in the sewing industry where automation has been scarce in the past. In 2019, he joined Bright Machines, a young company that had just raised $179 million in Series A funding. There, he is helping to bring software-defined manufacturing and cutting edge artificial intelligence to electronics manufacturing and assembly. In his spare time, he likes to play golf, fly fish, and hike with his wife Katie.
Barry has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Notre Dame and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State.
